Should I run my Surface Go in S Mode?

Sorry that is a trick question, the answer is clearly yes.

Windows 10 in S mode is a version of Windows 10 that’s streamlined for security and performance, while providing a familiar Windows experience. To increase security, it allows only apps from the Microsoft Store, and requires Microsoft Edge for safe browsing.

But there a ton of apps that I would like to use that are not on the Microsoft Store, for example Google Drive and Sync. I have the impression that Google, Apple and Microsoft go out of their way to make life harder for users that dare to mix and match

Dear tech companies, get over yourselves.
Like many other people I have built up my tech over a long period
making the best decisions I could at each step.
I don't want to back track, nor tie myself to one of you.
best wishes Michelle

Microsoft I want both S Mode and some apps you don’t support. Please move more quickly to add apps to Microsoft Store or work out how to protect me when I use your products and dare to need something else.

In this example, suggesting I use a third-party app and give it my credentials isn’t a credible way of protecting my data.
